Hello Seattle Campus Disability Partners-
I hope the first week back on campus in Seattle is going well for everyone.
I wanted to invite you all to join me, and share with others, the first of a series of “Meet the ADA Coordinator” Events next week; Jan 14th 3:30-5:00pm in HUB 327 (D Center). I intend to have 3-5 of these between now and the end of June across Seattle, Bothell and Tacoma campuses. With the first year of my tenure in the ADA role completed I am now working on creating spaces for discussion and access to the ADA Coordinator role to learn about community experiences, ideas for access, etc. My intention of the event is to take 10-15 mins to cover some broad items and work from the first year and then open it up for dialogue and discussion to hear from students, faculty, staff, etc. related to the Seattle campus. This next year I will be working on the creation of an ADA Office strategic plan and I will be seeking feedback from specific and broad groups as we go. These open discussions are to help start conversations and information sharing opportunities with the ADA Office as it continues to re-establish itself and grow in our current UW systems.
The D Center and Student Disability Commission have been partners in getting this information out to student groups recently, but please share with any interested parties as well. If this setting is not ideal for some to join/contribute to I am always open to setting up something specific with groups you are connected with as well.
