  2. DSP to co-sponsor nomination of Sunaura Taylor for 2026-27 AY Public Lecture series visit to campus (Walker Ames Lecturer), nominated by CHID

  3. Joanne nominated for Seattle campus Distinguished Teaching Award! Very much deserved!!

Administrative & Program Updates

  1. Staffing support – down to 1 out of 4
    1. DSP Administrator, Felicia Foster left in December; Frances Zielonka is providing fiscal and HR support
    2. If you need financial or HR support, please email Frances and copy Heather (or email heather and she will loop in Frances)
    3. DSP move into the shared staffing restructuring has been moved up from May to March. DSP is part Smith Gowen cohort
    4. No movement yet on replacing DSP Advisor, Jonathan nor on admin assistant Nicki
    5. DSP Academic Services Director, Kat Eli, is covering all DSP advising, in combo with Joanne and Heather
    6. Kat Eli nominated for Distinguished Staff Award; reception Wednesday Feb 18th 2-4 in HUB Ballroom
  2. Received confirmation of AY 2026-2027 Instructional funding
  3. Endowments Updates
    1. DSP will offer the Greenberg one year undergraduate scholarship for AY 2026-2027
    2. Expect to have Harlan Hahn budget for FY2027 finalized by next week
  4. Reimbursements
    1. Policy change: reimbursement submission must be made within 60 days (versus 90) of funds being spent
    2. All DSP reimbursement requests (e.g., convocation, events, Harlan Hahn) should be submitted to Heather and cc Frances
  5. DSP Program Review updates
    1. Share Feb 12 site visit agenda
    2. Self-study received feedback from review organizers; revised study sent to Divisional Dean; awaiting feedback for final revision

Service & Committees

  • Adding a new service line: teaching peer observation
  • Faculty needed each year to provide one peer teaching observation of DSP Assoc. Teaching Professor (must hold same or higher rank)
  • Faculty needed to provide peer teaching observation of temporary instructors
    • Propose informal policy of having a Core Faculty member conduct a teaching observation each quarter taught by temporary instructor
    • Discuss DSP teaching evaluations
